Dear Mr. Barry Bonds

Dear Mr. Barry Bonds,

We all watched you compete over the years of your career and saw as you hit homerun number 756 last evening. I find it hard to believe that people deny that fact that you have been associated with steroids throughout your entire career. When you came into the league as a Pirate I was watching and thought that you being a skinny 175 pound ballplayer was odd. I never thought that you would become a power hitter, and excel to the heights that you have. I played baseball for 17 years and have played from Little League all the may through College and came to the realization of something the more that I watched you play. The mass that you have on your body is all fake. There is no way humanly possible to gain 80 pounds of muscle from just working out. It is obvious by your bulging shoulders and distorted arms what is going on. You have been associated with Balco and many players have called you out on seeing you do the steroids themselves. I understand that you still had the ability to hit the balls as you have done but I think everyone knows as do I that you have cheated to get the record. In my mind it will always be tainted and will be held by Hank Aaron until someone breaks it legitimately.

I also find it utterly disgusting that everyone still criticizes my favorite ball player and the best player ever to play the game Mr. Pete Rose. He is a legend and if you deserver a record by CHEATING he deserves many more by not cheating. He gambled who cares if that's the case then Michael Jordan doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame either, as he gambled during being a player and owner of an NBA franchise.

Here is my proof behind why Mr. Rose should be in the hall:

  • Most career hits (4,256)
  • Most career games played (3,562)
  • Most career at bats (14,053)
  • Fifth in career runs (2,165)
  • Most career total bases, switch-hitter (5,752) (seventh overall)
  • Second in career doubles (746)
  • 44-game hitting streak (tied for 2nd longest in history)
  • The NL MVP Award (1973)
  • The NL Rookie of the Year Award (1963)
  • 17 All-Star appearances

Thank you for embarrassing yourself, your organization, and Major League Baseball,

    Sincerely,

    David Covey

I also believe Pete should be in the Hall. As a player. I think the only criteria should be stats against players of his era.

But, Pete did baseball just as ig a disservice as Bonds...he compromised the game. If he played slots, or bet on horseraces...I don't care, but Rose bet on MLB.

    You just can't condone that.
