OCTOBER 13--A New Mexico woman was arrested last week after she allegedly hid a hypodermic needle filled with heroin inside a Taco Bell burrito and tried to deliver the contraband to a friend held in a city jail. Rosemary Gonzales, 42, was nabbed last Friday after a jail guard at the Espanola lockup discovered the hypo hidden amongst the contents of a Burrito Supreme (friends are allowed to bring food to inmates at the small jail). As seen in the evidence photo below, the works were nestled inside a flour tortilla along with beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, sour cream, cheddar cheese, and a tangy red sauce. A second police photo shows a close-up of the confiscated needle. According to a statement of probable cause, the hypodermic's brown liquid contents were field tested by cops and came up positive for heroin. Gonzales, pictured in the above mug shot, was charged with bringing contraband into a prison, a felony, and jailed in lieu of $5000 cash bond.
If hope were a tree, it would offer light like this one
A wild choir of yellow leaves bright as noonday sun.
Planes circle above Baghdad, a thousand cunning crows
Leave the country, take flight, protect your only sons.
A red-crowned woodpecker plays the wall by your window
Over and over quiet drumming awakens last night’s sun.
War burns around you, though peace is on your lips
You will learn the climate of passion, all its hot white suns.
Veils of dust caress the ancient towers of this city
Ashes and tears tarnish the frightened desert sun.
A storm blows over the landscape, its tongues spit and coil
Clouds rub belly to belly, still you sight rays of sun.
You work alone, woman, writing poems for your love
While the cursed and holy world fights to feel the sun.

SEPTEMBER 27--Controversial football star Terrell Owens attempted suicide last night by taking an overdose of prescription pain pills, according to a Dallas Police Department report. A copy of the report can be found below. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, 32, was depressed and told cops that he was trying to harm himself, the report states. A female companion of the athlete told officers that Owens last week filled a prescription for 40 pain pills, but had only taken five of the pills up to yesterday. Owens told police that he had taken the balance of the pills last night. The woman, who has been identified as Kim Etheredge, Owens's publicist, also told responding officers (RO/S) that she observed Owens (identified in the report as "comp," or complainant) put two pills in his mouth, which she tried to retrieve by placing her fingers in his mouth. He was treated at Baylor University Medical Center for a drug overdose. While the police document does not name Owens, Dallas media reports (including one from WFAA-TV, which broke the Owens story) have identified him as the "victim" referred to in the report. Early this morning, ESPN reported that Owens had been taken to a hospital emergency room after suffering an adverse reaction to painkillers, which had been prescribed as a result of broken hand suffered during a September 17 game against the Washington Redskins. SEPTEMBER 22--Music and marijuana fans alike will appreciate this evidence photo memorializing the stash seized earlier this week from Willie Nelson's tour by Louisiana state police. During a September 18 traffic stop, cops smelled a strong odor of pot emanating from Nelson's bus. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up about 1-1/2 pounds of pot and a bag of mushrooms. The drugs were later photographed on the hood of a police cruiser. Nelson, 73, and four other bus passengers (ages 75, 59, 54, and 50) were issued misdemeanor drug possession citations and released at the scene.
(I have much respect for Willie but cmon willis what you talking about?)
