Thankful

I am so thankful for many things in my life. I have a great job, a nice home, and many friends that I care and love. I also have a God who is there no matter what. A God that has seen me screw up as many time as I have pleased him. A God who is always there to pick me up and help me along the way to my next goal. I know I am not perfect and I know that I will always make mistakes, but I am thankful for that second chance.

10 things I have learned this year

So many times I have read on people's blogs, 10 things to change your life, 10 things to help you lose weight, or 10 things to improve your sex life. Taking a step back I feel that in order to progress in life we must realize what has made us into who we are. I can say without joking and in all seriousness, that 2008 has been one of the most trying yet rewarding in my 26 years of existence. Many of you know what I have been through and I have got to say that without good friends and my faith in God I would not have made it. With that being said here are 10 things I have learned this year, enjoy. 1.) Sometimes those who you love the most can hurt you the worst. 2.) You are stronger than you could ever imagine if you trust in yourself. 3.) Friends are sometimes the only crutch you have to lean on. 4.) Family is always there for you no matter what. 5.) God is bigger than anything you can ever imagine. 6.) Depression is real and can control your life. 7.) Counseling is good for you and although I used to make fun of it, it helped me alot. 8.) Love can hurt worse than any physical pain. 9.) Music helps me deal with my pain. 10.) Let new people into your life, sometimes they love you more than old friends.

A life on my own

Life is slowly becoming a little more normal after all I have been through recently. At first it was horrible and I was fighting depression tooth and nail. Throughout this process I have really began to delve back into reading. Since June I have read 7 books and have 4 more on the table to start. One thing in life that you have to remember is that no matter what happens with family or relationships in the end you must take care of your self. Relationships are very important and I hold no grudges now that one that I had is over, but relationships do not make you who you are as a person. But I must say that it is nice being able to find myself again. Find those things that I have forgotten about over time, and making myself into a better man feels wonderful!

With that being said I leave you all with a joke I found quite funny!

Married Guys Go Fishing

Four married guys went fishing. After an hour or so, the following conversation took place:
First guy: "You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this weekend. I had to promise my wife I will paint every room in the house next weekend."

Second guy: "That's nothing! I had to promise my wife I'd build her a new deck for the pool."

Third guy: "Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I'll remodel the kitchen for her."

They continued to fish, until they realized the fourth guy had not said a word.

So they asked him. "You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend. What's the deal?"

Fourth guy: "I just set my alarm for 5:30 am. When it went off, I shut off the clock, gave the wife a nudge and said, "Fishing, or Sex," and she said, "Wear a sweater."

Hello World

When I last left you I asked for everyone to pray for me and my wife Ashley. We were going through some really hard times and I was focusing on becoming a different person. As of yesterday Ashley and I are divorced. It is something that we tried to work on and in the end we were unable to salvage the relationship. No I am not going anywhere, no there is not someone else involved, we are going to remain friends, and I am ready to move on. It has been a very trying couple of months and I am now ready to stand up and continue on this path. I will be posting more often then previously and want to thank you all for your prayers and concerns.

Please pray for Ashley & I

Friends & Family just know that sometimes in life you must take a break from all to concentrate on what's really important. I will not be blogging for a while to focus on some other aspects of my life. Just please pray for me and Ashley as we go through some changes in our lives.

Thank you for your prayers,

David

Older...but Wiser?

I know that I haven't been posting as much recently but it has been because frankly my mind has been exhausted. Between work, music. church, love, and everything else that is constantly invading my mind, the thoughts haven't truly been there. I am working on writing again with Experimental Threat, and it is helping to free some of the emotions. Church is cool and the kids really seem to be learning what I am trying to explain. Work is great everything falling into place. Love has been there for many years now and me and Ashley are approaching 4 years now of marriage.

The purpose of the title is that I will be 26 Friday. Wow how crazy. I remember turning 16 and wondering what life would be like in college. Now I have finished college and wonder what life will be like with children. I can honestly say that I have matured, so much so that I have a home, pets, yard work, all of the normal "American" things. Am I happy? Yes but not because of things because of the fact that I have found myself. And in myself I am satisfied with who I am. Happiness isn't what you have or what you own it's who you are. So as a 26 year old man I am glad.

p.s. I will be posting some lyrics later this week.

love and peace..............                                              DC

Bubba is Back!

St. Petersburg – MJ Morning show host, Todd Schnitt is suing Bubba the Love Sponge Clem, claiming that Bubba's made all types of offensive statements on air about MJ and his wife Michelle. The radio personalities compete for listeners during the same time period Monday through Friday between the hours of 6am and 10am.

Bubba the Love Sponge spoke about the civil lawsuit filed against him from his St. Petersburg home Monday night. "I didn't say anything defamatory or slanderous like he made allegations of. Really bad stuff like touching kids or something I would never go there." “This is somebody who got his feelings hurt that's exactly what it is. He gets on the air everyday. He's a public figure.”

MJ was not available for comment Monday night. He is out of the country on vacation according to a source. There is a note posted on the website for the radio show  that reads "The MJ Morning Crew is on vacation from Mach 17th - March 21st. We will return on Monday, March 24th."

But the lawsuit speaks for MJ and his wife. In it MJ accuses Bubba of calling him "a lying piece of crap", "a kid Schnitt snitch and "one of the top four or five people behind our arrest and the trial of the hog deal." MJ also accuses Bubba of calling his wife Michelle a degrading name. Michelle Schnitt does appear on the MJ Morning Show from time to time which airs on 93.3 FM, WFLZ, which is a Clear Channel Communications station.

Rebecca Harrison Steele is the director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Florida. Steele represents the West Central Florida Regional Office and says "Someone who's a public figure - in order to find the defendant guilty of libel they have to show that they acted with reckless and indifference to the truth or with actual knowledge that what they were saying was false."

Steele says some speech is protected by the 1st amendment.  Statements of opinion are not slanderous she says but  "Well shock jock is one thing but  if you actually make defamatory statements about someone that are not true and that do injure their reputation in a serious way that to me crosses over the line of 1st amendment."

Bubba the Love Sponge is no stranger to controversy he was fired by Clear Channel in February of 2004. At the time he drew the largest single indecency fine in FCC history for airing skits where cartoon characters talked about sex and drugs. Back in January of this year he promised to clean up his act when he returned to the airwaves here in Tampa and in Jacksonville. He signed a three year contract with Cox radio and can be heard on 102.5 The Bone in Tampa.

The tension may have started the day that Bubba returned to the air. In the studio a computer screened displayed the phrase “MJ sucks.” Bubba told Tampa Bay's 10 News back then “All of Tampa radio sucks. There is nothing out there and we were number 1 for 8 or 9 years and even cleaned up and user friendly we'll be far better than anything that's on. It's horrible.”

Monday night he reiterated that sentiment. “The truth hurts doesn't it? The bottom line is Arbitron just came out and I was already number 1. I went to number 1 in two and a half weeks. They're going to try to tell me the Tampa Bay wasn't hurting for something new?”

Bubba the Love Sponge “If you don't want me to talk about you then take yourself off the air.” “Let this play out in court. Let me have my day in court. I can't wait for the deposition to start. Let the games begin. I swear to God.”

Bubba says he'll probably have a lot of comments about the lawsuit on his show Tuesday morning. “He gets on the air everyday. He's a public figure. It's okay for him to put billboards of OJ and Britney Spears up and his whole show is based on TMZ.” “Unfortunately what he doesn't understand is that he and his wife are public figures. I can call them names and be outlandish and be Bubba the Love Sponge, be the people's hammer and say it like it is all I want.”

Bubba says it's true he does make fun of MJ's physical attributes. “Being short, being a midget, looking guy. He can call me fat. He can do all that but the bottom line is little MJ's feelings are hurt and so now I'm going to sue, sue, sue. Tie up the system, tie up the taxpayers dollars, tie up the court system.”

The civil suit does not spell out exactly how much money in damages MJ and Michelle are suing for but they are asking for a jury trial to settle the matter.

I'm Changing Daily

I am currently in Atlanta, GA at the Church Planters.com conference with the other staff from Compass Point Church. Although it has been a trip of joking around and teasing Pastor Chris sometimes I must say that I have changed. I have come to the realization that God will always be stretching us and molding us into something to fit the current situation that we are a part of. Although sometimes I feel like things I do to reach young people is done in vain, as long as I follow his calling I am doing what I am called for. At this conference I have realized that although Compass Point does alot of things differently than the norm that we do alot of things right. I have also come to realize that God is giving me visions of new and exciting ways to reach the unchurched of Central Florida. I will write more when I get home but just wanted to give you an update.
